Sébastien Bumbolo

Sébastien Bumbolo has 27 years experience in the Power & Gas/LNG sectors across Europe and overseas. He was General Counsel for 15 years and, since early 2019, has also overseen the commercial function of Adriatic LNG, the joint venture between ExxonMobil and Qatar Energy that designed, built, and operates the largest LNG terminal in Italy, located offshore in the northern Adriatic Sea with world-unique technology

With a distinct interest in energy matters and regulation, he has dedicated his entire legal career to the Gas/LNG, Power and mining sectors and has also held several regulatory advisory positions. Throughout his professional journey, Sebastien has worked in Paris, London, Milan and Rome for various utility companies, including EDF, ENEL and Terna.

Sebastien has played a key role in gas and power trading activities across Europe, the creation of energy market operators, major international power transmission agreements, and numerous M&A deals. He has significantly advanced the liberalization of energy markets through direct negotiations with energy regulators and antitrust authorities at both nationals and EU levels.

Within the Global Counsel Awards ACC/Chambers & Partners, Sebastien has been awarded in London as Best Counsel in Europe 2019 and in New York as Best Global Counsel 2019, in the Regulatory (Non-Financial Services) category. He holds a business law degree and a master’s in business law from Strasbourg University (France) and is a visiting lecturer at various universities in Italy on gas market, energy transition and mining legal and regulatory topics.
